Calella de Palafrugell, is a fishing village on the Costa Brava, in the Baix Emporda, province of Girona. It is a town that belongs to the municipality of Palafrugell. In the 19th century the Girona bourgeoisie began to build their summer residences in this place.
Calella de Palafrugell is not only famous for its coves of crystal clear water and thick sand, but also for its Habaneres festival, which is celebrated every year on the first Saturday of July. The typical gastronomy of the area is fish and seafood and among many other specialties, one that is served between the beginning of January and the end of March stands out: sea urchins.
One of the interesting visits that can be made in the surroundings of Calella de Palafrugell is the Botanical Garden of Cap Roig, home of the music festival held every summer. The lighthouse of Sant Sebastia, 168 meters above sea level, offers wonderful panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea. In Calella you will also find a beautiful 'camino de ronda' that leads to Llafranc.
Located next to the C-65 road, which communicates directly with the historic city of Girona, Barcelona and also with France. Girona airport is only 50 km away.
