Ca Valentin LAMA MOCOGNO (province of Modena) There are some things that are essential for living well in a mountain house. In the mountains, it is essential to have a beautiful panorama overlooking the mountains and the valley. It is also almost essential to have a fireplace to warm you, because it is pleasant to see it lit, to hear the warmth and crackling of the fire when the snow falls outside. Furthermore, it is quite essential to have a fenced garden, because in the mountains it is nice to have outdoor space for children and dogs to run around. And this is even more true if there is a swing, a wood-burning oven and tables in the garden, your experience will be even more complete. Even if it is not strictly necessary, having a few more rooms and bathrooms is very convenient. Friends will often come to visit you to enjoy your company and the cool of the mountains. The house I'm telling you about today, as you will certainly have understood, has all the necessary elements to live well and happily in the mountains! Cà Valentin is a very old house, with large and powerful yellow stone walls and small windows, typical of mountain homes. The house is located at an altitude (there is no information on the altitude above sea level) in the hamlet of Mocogno, 4 km from the capital Lama. Lama is easily reachable both by car and by pedal-assisted bicycle. Mocogno is a hamlet of Lama located on the opposite coast of the valley from the capital. Here you will find a beautiful church with a very high bell tower that dominates the hill under which Cà Valentin stands. In the town there is also a restaurant converted from the former elementary schools and some stone houses. Looking elsewhere, you will see the blue of the sky and the green of the fields... Cà Valentin is a large and beautiful house, divided over several floors and surrounded by land arranged in flat steps. On these steps you will find a variety of plants, from rows of vines to fruit trees, from ornamental plants to olive trees. And all around, a sea of flowers. The house, as I was saying, is divided over several floors: on the lowest floor there is a beautiful cellar used as a tavern, while above there is another cellar with bathroom, used as a guest room. Upstairs is the actual house. With level access from the porch which also houses the oven and grill and access to the garden, the house is in the living room with fireplace, sofa and small panoramic balcony. From here three steps take me to the suggestive and very bright dining room with an exposed roof. Over there is the red kitchen with the bathroom on the ground floor next to it. Throughout this floor the walls have large exposed stone surfaces and have many illuminated niches. I go up the iron staircase and go into the two bedrooms. beautiful and large, one of these also has a private bathroom. I go up again and go into the wonderfully finished attic area which houses a nice sofa and a large television. Then, do you want me to tell you about the garden? Well, there are several buildings outside. the main one is used as a woodshed with a nice roof above it to accommodate two cars. Then there is a beautiful shed for the summer..... and the chicken coop! What else to say: let's go and see it?
