The Arco di Prato - restored two years ago - owes its name to Leonardo Prato, a man of arms and illustrious leader, who in 1479 brought high the name of his family, originally from Lecce, distinguishing himself in the bloody battle of Rhodes against the Turks and a few years later was an active part in the peace negotiations with the Pasha. The construction of the Arco di Prato dates back to 1500 and fully respects its style. What is most enchanting about the Arco di Prato is its depth, which makes it more like a gallery than an arch. At the edges of the entrance, there are two pilasters on which the pendentives celebrating the Prato family are sculpted. At the center of the Arch of Prato stands a volute and looking up you can admire a balustrade made up of shaped balusters alternating with square pillars.
