In the middle ages it was the subject of bitter battles between brescia and verona, in the fifteenth century it then came under the dominion of venice, becoming a flourishing commercial center in the modern era. The heart of the city rises around piazza malvezzi and the porto vecchio, embellished by the sixteenth-century buildings of the brescian architect giulio todeschini. Not to be missed: the archaeological area, which houses the remains of a grandiose roman villa from the 4th century.
