The house of the white rabbit FANANO Do you know Alice in Wonderland? Have you read the book or seen the movie? Tell me the truth, you've seen The Matrix ;-) Well, when I discovered this house I felt just like Alice... in Wonderland! I had always heard about this property and how fantastic, evocative and particular it was but I had never had the chance to see it, for me it had always been a place surrounded by its own myth... I reached the end of the little road several times "Le Coste" but I have always stopped at the gate and hedge of this house. I knew that beyond the gate there was a very beautiful and large villa... that I could only imagine, unattainable and shrouded in the charm of myth fueled by village rumors... It was all like that until a few months ago when it arrived Russola, the caretaker of the white rabbit's house, came to my agency to tell me that the owner wanted me as his trusted real estate agent to put his house up for sale. WOW I thought and a few days later that famous gate "and this hedge, which excludes the view from so much of the far horizon" opened for me... ...The driveway continued slightly downhill, only the signs car wheels marked the grass. On the left there is the mountain, on the right there is the forest and the valley. And above a roof made from tree leaves. The light opened up ahead of me, first timidly in the distance then strong all around me: I arrived at the house. The buildings are on my left, not too high and very typical of the place, the walls have exposed stones. The fields and the view of the valley and the town are on my right. Some fruit trees dot the lawns around the house. Behind me there is a beautiful belt, high and imposing (the belt is the small mountain. It is called that in the dialect in these parts). I'll go up there. From here I can see the entire roof of the house, the valley of the stream and the entire ridge. I sit among the yellow blades of grass and remain for a few minutes enchantingly observing the wonder... Coming down from the greenhouse I stop and pick some blackberries which I will bring to my children. Two jumps and I'm at the house: there are two buildings plus a small tool shed and all around them there is a beautiful stone-paved square, decorated here and there with flowerbeds and two small fountains. There is a large main house, a second smaller guest house, a garage and a small tool shed. In an internal corner of the house there is also a bread oven. There is also, between the two buildings, a small porch with barbecue which houses a beautiful wooden table. The houses are beautiful and renovated and are now used as independent homes (2). At one time these buildings were almost certainly intended, the larger ones as homes and the smaller ones as stables and barns. The two houses are very beautiful on the outside and well finished on the inside, they are spectacular. Believe me. I'll tell you right away to forget about the new cover stuff and the modern but still slightly aseptic renovations. Here everything is as it was: everything is very typical, rustic and at the same time very livable. The largest house is made up of small but not too small rooms with very small original windows, terracotta, stone and wood floors, exposed wooden attics, heating fireplaces, wood stoves, exposed roof with wonderful genuine beams, plaster and original paintings in lime, stone and ancient wood. Many rooms, double volumes that open onto the roof, characteristic furnishings. But look at the photos you understand better and sooner! :-) The other house is smaller, it is narrow and long and is a little less fascinating because the renovation here was more thorough. However, this second home is very comfortable, particular with its staggered floors and above all it is very panoramic. It is the ideal accommodation for guests.
