This majestic castle with a thousand-year history, is for sale on Mount Fumone, south of Rome.
The castle is the symbol of the province of Frosinone, and was once also a Pontifical prison: Pope Celestine V was imprisoned and died here, and a sanctuary was built in his memory. Since 1990, the fortress has been open to the public for guided tours.
The reasons for such interest are linked to its historical and religious prestige, perfect state of conservation and enchanting surroundings. As it can be easily reached from both Rome and Naples, respectively only 80 and 120 km away, it has been an ideal venue for all sorts of events for three decades.
The wonderful rooms of the castle are characterized by sumptuous and refined furnishings. A monumental Italian-style hanging garden (the highest in Europe), offers 3,500 square meters among tall centuries-old plants.
This ancient castle measures 3,500 sqm and is divided into five independent apartments. Each apartment features its original details, including fine terracotta floors, stone upholstery, ceilings with exposed beams or barrel vaults and walls covered with Damascus fabrics. The rooms that were home to the castle's guardhouse in the Middle Ages are now used for hospitality activities, with two big and comfortable suites.
