Palazzo Prina – Oggiono center. 5 years. The expert restoration that brought Palazzo Prina back to its original splendor lasted that long. All the works were carried out by a highly specialized company following the strict directives of the competent Superintendence of Cultural Heritage. Only by viewing the photographic report (which we report only in small part in the image gallery) relating to the progress of the work can we better understand the complexity of the work carried out. Everything is perfect, nothing has been left to chance. The history of this noble residence is lost in time. It can be hypothesized that it has existed since ancient times, built in a very important place as evidenced by the proximity of the Baptistery and the importance of the road - now via Primo Maggio - already the main street during Roman domination. It is difficult to say what characteristics it might have had at the time but what is certain is that in the 16th century it was considered of great value by the Spanish rulers who chose it as the seat of government and, centuries later, it became the seat of the Royal Prosecutor's Office. It is credible to think that, in a period that ran from the end of the 17th century to the second half of the 18th century, it underwent a profound restructuring as demonstrated by the design of the facades (hypothesis supported by the analysis of the structures examined during the restoration works ). The stucco decorations of the vaults on the ground floor of the west wing most likely belong to the Napoleonic period, revealing lines in "directory style", the dominant taste at the time. The plan of the building is arranged in a "U" with a central body on three floors characterized by the portico and two side wings lower than one floor which enclose, inside, the large courtyard with a central fountain. The two centuries-old magnolias delineate it from the large private garden. To date, Palazzo Prina is lived in by a single family who has dedicated part of the rooms on the first floor to the offices of their business, but, given the size and layout of the many rooms, it can easily accommodate multiple families.
