DESCRIPTION OF THE BUILDINGS
The property dates back to the 12th century and was originally a castle owned by a noble merchant family of Florence. Over the years, the castle lost its defensive purpose and became a self-sustained rural hamlet. The complex has been recently restored and converted into an Agriturismo with six guest apartments.
Building A (435 sqm – 4,681 sqft, 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms), on three levels, currently houses four independent apartments plus a spacious common room on the ground floor, ideal for dinners or to relax. The building is the result of the expansion of an old watchtower, still visible and nowadays converted into a charming apartment.
- Apartment N°1 "Viuzzo" (75 sqm): living room, kitchen with dining area, two bedrooms and bathroom;
- Apartment N°2 "Lavanda" (60 sqm): living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom with shower;
- Apartment N°3 "Torre" (75 sqm, on three floors): ample living room with open-plan kitchen, two bedrooms and two bathrooms (the room on the top floor features a private loggia);
- Apartment N°4 "Loggiato" (75 sqm): living room with kitchen and loggia, two bedrooms and bathroom.
Building B (390 sqm – 4,196 sqft, 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms) is again on three floors and the whole ground floor, made up of three huge rooms, is used as a common area where guests can find a spacious dining hall, a playroom and a restroom. With independent access from outside are three smaller rooms with the systems of the house. On the upper floor, ground level, are two multi-floor independent apartments:
- Apartment N°5 "Granaio" (80 sqm): ample living room with kitchen, two bedrooms and two bathrooms;
- Apartment N°6 "Piazzetta" (70 sqm, on two floors): living room/kitchen with fireplace, two bedrooms and bathroom.
Building C (50 sqm – 538 sqft) is used as a reception for the guests with a registration room, two service bathrooms and a technical room.
EXTERIORS
The estate covers a total surface of approximately 14.1 hectares (34.8 acres) laid over the hills of Chianti Rufina, just northeast of Florence.
The property (part of a historic hamlet) is marked by paved walkways leading to a 4,500-sqm garden located just beyond a small paved square. Here one can find the 12 × 6 m swimming pool with a stone-and-grass sunbathing area. This space is very suitable to install gazebos and canopied, converting the area into a very cozy and welcoming event venue.
The remaining surface includes a huge olive grove (roughly 4.5 hectares) that would allow producing excellent extra-virgin olive oil. The rest of the property is made up of woodland (8.0 ha) and arable land (1.2 ha) suitable for different crops.
