BMW Concept Z4, power and a sporty character

"Unlimited driving pleasure", promises the Bavarian manufacturer. Powerful curves magnified by Valencia Orange Metallic paintwork, design that hugs the ground with a powerful long hood ending in gigantic nostrils... An almost feline silhouette ready to spring forth, revealing its untamed personality. Here comes the third generation...

The Concept Z4 offers more harmonious proportions blending aerodynamics and very good looks. Air inlets at the front and outlets on the hood serve as reminders that speed remains one of the attributes of this roadster crouching on 20-inch alloy wheels. A spoiler tops the boot framed by two large tail-lights. Presented last May, the BMW Concept 8 Series bears some resemblance to this model unveiled at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elégance. Are we getting a glimpse of the new BMW style ?

In the stylish interior with its chrome features, minimalism rivals with eccentricity. The bi-colour sports seats are asymmetrical : sleek black leather for the driver, orange nubuck for the passenger. Two screens adorn the cockpit, where all the controls have been brought closer together. Route guidance, playlists… All functions to be selected in touch mode. The Head-up screen provides driving information within the driver’s direct field of vision. The canvas roof has made a comeback in place and stead of the retractable hard top. One tends to think of the avant-garde Chris Bangle, who transformed BMW lines at the turn of the century. The German manufacturer has not yet delivered any technical information on the subject of the third generation of the roadster, expected to hit the road in 2018, probably following its presentation at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
