The result of a competition for BMW design teams, this car boasting a rechargeable hybrid powertrain, a 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine with two electric motors, has turned up at the crossroads between the BMW Turbo concept, the M1 and the highly innovative BMW i8, its headlights fully focused on the future. Full of muscle beneath the hood, its bevelled design is precise, and its posture decidedly sporty. Normal, when you learn that 600 hp are ready to give vent, and that the Vision M Next leaps from standstill to 100 km/h in only 3 seconds. Triangular features surround the double radiator grille. Lateral air intakes accompany integrated headlights. Sculpted diagonally, the 2-tone effect is quite striking : the matte tone of the pigments chosen contrasts with satin-finish Cast Silver. The opening recedes as it moves to the rear. Optical fibre on the sides of the tail-lights conjures up heartbeats, while the lower part of the car is clad with recycled carbon fibre. On the 22-inch wheel-rims, orange inserts play the ace of aerodynamics.
The driver is assisted by smart technologies such as facial recognition to unlock the vehicle. Command proves to be intuitive. And information appears on one of the screens in the driver’s field of vision. A reference to augmented-reality techniques. Unashamedly futuristic, the interior, a real cockpit from a science fiction vehicle, is both modern and luxurious.
