Ferrari F60 America, an anniversary with all due pomp and ceremony

Ten models, recalling the 10 produced in 1967 of the 275 GTS Spider. The source of inspiration for the designers of this F60 America ? Undoubtedly the F12 Berlinetta. With great pomp and ceremony, the brand has been paying tribute to Luigi Chinetti over in Beverly Hills… Highly symbolic, given that the USA is still the biggest market for Ferraris. The firm's history and Chinetti's career are, in fact, closely linked. With nine victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans to his credit, Chinetti played a vital role in the Italian brand's success story. For the bodywork, there was only one choice : blue with a white stripe, a clear allusion to North American Racing Team Ferraris, the first to import the brand to the USA. Several reminders also of the F12 TRS, which made its appearance just before the summer. The F60 America owes its personality to the front end of its hood, its aerodynamic system, its rear, wings, doors and grill, all entirely re-styled. Carbon fibre braces surround the bucket seats. Red leather for the driver, black for the passenger. Both with a nod and a wink to the American flag. Ferrari fans adore driving with the sky above their heads. There was no way they could be disappointed.
The 6.3-litre V12, an engine popular among North Americans, delivers 740 hp, and the super-car takes a mere 3.1 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h. Panache comes at a price : 2 million euros, or the price of a villa in the prestigious neighbourhood of La Californie in Cannes. But Americans are fond of excess and, at the time of going to press, the 10 collectors’ models have already been snapped up.
