December saw the first public appearance made by the new FXX K, whose name refers to the kinetic Kers energy recovery system that boosts its track performance. The initial statement was clear from the start : the FXX K will never be used in competition, and its technological innovations are therefore not restricted by racing regulations. 1050 hp under the bonnet (860 hp provided by the conventional V12 engine, and 190 hp contributed by the electric motor)… Figures to make its rivals turn green with envy !
The car's overall spirit and technical aspects are pretty close to the LaFerrari. Its styling deliberately plays on active and passive aerodynamic elements. And it owes its extraordinary balance to a dual-profile guide vane at the front, a lowered separator and central opening. The side skirts are lower than the body frame, while the rear section is raised. The car's composite materials take its total weight to 1,265 kg. Thanks to its Pirelli racing slicks, equipped with sensors to measure longitudinal, lateral and rotational acceleration, the driver benefits from accurate analysis of the interaction between the tyres and track surface.
The last-born prototype from the manufacturer of Maranello is designed for an exclusive clientele. The group of 32 buyers is apparently already fully subscribed. Success shared by the FXX K with the LaFerrari which, even before its release, had 499 owners already lined up. Once an owner of the car, the buyer is treated to all-round assistance when it leaves the track. The firm symbolized by the Prancing Horse certainly knows all about packaging…
