Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 SuperVeloce Roadster
“Designed to be the fastest Lamborghini of all time...” Clearly indicated by the “SuperVeloce” part of the roadster’s name, the challenge undertaken by the manuacturer with the bull emblem leaves no-one in any doubt. As witnessed at its presentation at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elégance in California.
With its enhanced V12 6.5 litre aspirated engine, ultra-light solution and innovative technology, the Aventador SV Roadster promises an unprecedented driving experience. In addition to the carbon fibre monocoque and robotised 7-speed gearbox, it boasts front and rear magneto-rheological dampers, dynamic steering, super-light materials and a new TFT dashboard. While extensive use of polymer carbon reinforced with fibre is an over-riding feature, some components have evolved. Starting with the seats, forged alloy wheel-rims and the engine compartment. Modifications providing a net reduction in the overall weight to 1,575 kg, ie. 50 kg less compared to the basic version. Passengers are in direct contact with the car’s bare body, and the SV is fitted with new Pirelli PZero Corsa sports tyres, specially designed for the occasion. To ensure that he is in full control of the car, the driver can count on the pre-set Strada, Sport and Corsa driving modes, and the electronically controlled 4WD system. With 750 hp beneath the hood thanks to an engine which is admittedly greedy and cumbersome but offers hyper performance, the roadster attains a top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph) and takes 2.9 seconds to leap from 0 to 100 km/h. Those who really want to keep their hair from blowing in the wind when the car is given full throttle and the 12 cylinders roar, will probably decider to lower the carbon roof, composed of two light panels - 6 kg each -, which are operated manually.
“The Roadster illustrates our commitment to satisfy our passionate clients with hugely emotional driving combined with an extraordinary experience in the open air,” comments Lamborghini CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, not far from Pebble Beach.
The price of sheer exception is close on 428,000 €. Only 500 models are scheduled to appear on the market, following the 600 of the coupé model, with delivery probably commencing in the spring of 2016.
