Lamborghini Aventador Roadster
Identifiable by its mini fin stabilizer, this head-turning supercar has 700 hp under the bonnet and a top speed close on 350 km/hr. Far from sacrificing good looks on the altar of performance, Lamborghini has produced a vehicle flaunting extraordinary design.
Filippo Perini put his signature to the new line, which seems flatter than that of the coupé version. This, however, is just an impression, as proven by the measurements of the two Lamborghinis which are identical on every count. The absence of a roof and the virtually horizontal position of the windscreen give the driver and passenger of the Aventador Roadster, presented in Miami, a sensation of freedom. With your hair streaming in the wind, you are simply protected from jolts by the lateral windows and the one behind the headrests. If you feel the need for a little calm, you can install the two-piece carbon fibre top.
After negotiating the wing door, you can admire the interior with its ultra-cool design. “So ergonomic”, comments anyone who has tried it out. Fans of the digital world have a ball when they discover the instrument panel. Though real as opposed to virtual pleasure is derived from the V12 6.5 l engine, which proudly emits its roar as soon as you press the Start button. The array of delectable features includes a 7-speed robotized ISR gearbox. Weighing in at over 1,600 kilos, the roadster is both superfast and precise in manoeuvering. Even faster than an airplane taking off. Two hexagonal windows reveal the engine for the greater enjoyment of purists, and for a more technical reason : to cool the engine and radiators. The car takes only 3 seconds to leap from 0 to 100 km/hr. Finally, the price : 358,000 €. Far from being prohibitive if one takes a look at the Italian manufacturer’s orderbook. As soon as it was released, stocks were already depleted. Exclusiveness comes at a price and sheer seduction demands a little patience. The transformation of the Aventador into a roadster is clearly a great success.
