Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4
This model does not merely content itself with succeeding the legendary Gallardo. It re-invents a blend of high performance and luxury. Even though confronted by a legend, its designers have kept their eyes riveted on the future, which the car can envisage in all serenity.
The Huracán has a very busy schedule for 2014 : at least 130 private presentations in 60 cities all over the world, starting with Geneva and its Motor Show in March. With 14,022 Gallardos produced, the challenge for the new Huracán is pretty daunting. It owes its name - the same as the Maya god for wind, fire and tempests - to the Spanish "Conte de la Patilla" breed of fierce fighting bulls.
Pure flowing lines, a plunging nose merging with a cockpit brought further forward, an imposing rear with colossal oval air vents and exhaust pipes, a silhouette whose lateral windows come together to form a hexagonal shape… Widely compared to a small Aventador, the Huracán weighs only 1,422 kilos thanks to its aluminium and carbon fiber structure. Inside, Nappa leather, suedine and Alcantara reign supreme. The 12.3-inch screen displaying digital counters shares the spotlight with generous control levers and hexagonal aerators. The electronically controlled dual-clutch transmission offers seven speeds. A 5.2-litre V10 engine with 610 hp under the bonnet… More than the Gallardo or its rival, the 458 Italia from the brand with the prancing horse. The Huracán boasts a top speed of 325 km/hr and attains 100 km/hr from zero in only 3.3 seconds. In the field of pure performance, its real rival is the McLaren MP4-12C, which tips the scales in terms of numbers. As regards consumption, of around 12.3 l per 100 km, or respect for the environment - it emits 290 g per km -, the Huracán rates better than the Gallardo. Henceforth, the luxury sports sector will be able to use the Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4 as a reference.
