Maserati Ghibli Hybride

Technology moves on, but the Maserati spirit remains eternal. 330 hp roar beneath the hood thanks to its 2-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with a 48V electric motor-generator. Hybrid technology, for sure, on the mild side, enabling Maserati to commit to enhanced performance.

Since its world preview on July 15th, we know more about Maserati’s latest offering, the first electric-powered vehicle from the Italian manufacturer, and an addition to the Ghibli range seven years after its launch. The electric starter motor with a 48V belt allows the saloon to summon up more power when necessary, and recover energy when slowing down and braking. The eBooster ensures smooth transition between the electrical and mechanical compressors, encouraging driving that is both dynamic, agile and comfortable. The DC convertor and 48V battery are housed at the rear for improved weight distribution. With ZF 8-speed transmission, the car attains a top speed of 255 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds.Onboard the Maserati, it is all about exaltation. Its incomparable stylishness captures everyone’s gaze, with a nod and a wink to electrification. As witnessed by its cold, hi-tech grey colour set off by blue details. The rear of the car has a boomerang-like signature in allusion to the Trident’s historic models, with new tail-lights and a grille with bars designed to look like a tuning-fork. Hyper-connected, this model offers a new 10.1-inch touchscreen and its virtual assistant. Environmentally friendly, it has reduced its CO2 emissions by 25% as compared to the petrol version. Up to 145 km/h, it benefits from a semi-autonomous driving system, adaptive cruise control, monitoring of blind spots, lane-keeping assistance, recognition of traffic signs and automatic emergency braking.

The Hybrid comes in two finishes : the aptly-named “GranLusso” for unrepentant fans of luxury, and the “GranSport” for those looking for driving thrills. Prices and launch dates have not yet been announced. However, production, 100 % Italian, should commence in September, 2020. For the all-electric model, we will have to be patient until 2021.
