McLaren 675 LT, a striking entrance…
This model made its appearance in March at the 85th International Motor Show in Geneva with some very persuasive arguments : light weight, optimized aerodynamics and enhanced power.
In the world of McLaren, this magnificent car, with a hand-built production run limited to 500, occupies a choice position between the 650 S and P1. Naturally, its neighbour at the show, the P1 GTR, priced at over 2 million euros, somewhat stole the limelight, though its undeniable qualities nevertheless enabled it to take on the beast with an exorbitant price-tag. The 675 gets its LT initials from “LongTail”, a reference to the long-enduring F1 GTR of the 1990’s, and its rear based on the aerodynamic support. The Airbrake - ie. the surface area of its rear fin - is 50 % larger than that of the 650S, with which it shares, however, a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V8 engine produces 675 hp, 25 more than the 650 S. Most of the components have been redesigned to reduce the car’s total weight and thus its inertia. 100 kg lighter, giving 1,230 kg, which it partly owes to the massive use of carbon. 2.9 seconds suffice for the 675 LT to achieve the sacrosanct 0 to 100 km/h, 7.9 seconds for 0 to 200 km/h, with a top speed of 330 km/h. Lighter and faster… The Porsche 911 GT3 and Ferrari 458 Speciale and 488 GTB had better brace themselves…
Interested parties will have to part with 309,750 € for this limited edition, and wait until summer to see it on the road. They will also have to get a move on : it’s rumoured that many of the 500 models of this 675 LT version, indisputably the most radical in the Super Series, have already been sold.
