Mercedes-Maybach S 650 cabriolet
There will only be 300 members of the happy few taking the wheel of the first Maybach cabriolet. Based on the S-Class open-top, this prestige version from Mercedes is synonymous with luxury and exclusiveness.
After the limousine, the cabriolet now unfurls the famous sign of distinction adopted on many occasions by the brand. The Cabriolet was revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November in a limited edition of 300 models, with a price-tag close on 300,000 €. A model characterized by numerous highlights in chrome : on the new front bumper, the sides and sills. Its list of refinements also includes 20-inch wheels and headlights with sparkling Swarovski crystals. Ultra-comfortable, the leather seats provide ventilation, heating and massage by request. Three colours and as many interior ambiances, giving precedence to elegant wood panelling and magnolia uphostery : “Diamond White” with its blue and white interior, “Zircon Red” in black and white, and “Côte d’Azur Blue” combining white and chestnut brown. The “Affinity” kit is comprised of two travel bags and two pieces of hand luggage, matching the leather upholstery, of course. A full five metres long, though it doesn’t look it, the Mercedes-Maybach S 650 cabriolet offers sleek, tapered lines designed to impress rather than shock.
Even so, the manufacturer has not sacrificed technique to esthetics. Far from it... As evidenced by the AMG 6-litre V12 engine giving an output of 630 hp, completed by its automatic 7G-tronic power transmission producing 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds. At 60 km/h, the fabric hood is lowered by a simple push of a button.
Scheduled for delivery this summer, the first Mercedes-Maybach S 650 cabriolets will be accompanied by key rings made of the nappa leather used inside the car, the model’s serial number, and a certificate signed by Dr Dieter Zetsche himself, Chairman of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars.
