Mercedes SLS AMG Electric Drive
This100 % electric coupé proves brilliantly that performance and good looks can be combined with respect for the environment. Super-sporty, it has borrowed technologies from Formula 1 likely to ensure its renown as the most powerful electric car on the market. Luxury, ecological-style…
With four electric motors on board delivering a total output of 552 kW, this “zero-emission” car with gull-wing doors is the world’s most powerful electric vehicle. It leaps from 0 to 100 km/hr in only 3.9 seconds and chalks up a top speed of 250 km/hr. “Driving Performance”… More than a slogan, the baseline of the SLS AMG Electric Drive hints at a next-generation driving experience. Mercedes-AMG worked in collaboration with Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains, experts in Formula 1 and hybrid kinetic energy recovery systems, to develop the high-voltage battery. Wonderfully futuristic, this car will certainly be of interest to all those looking for new experiences. Starting with extraordinary thrust combined with the deployment of astonishingly linear power output, thanks to its four electric motors. Recharging is handled by a wall-mounted charger installed in the owner’s garage, benefiting from a fast charge function. The AMG Torque Dynamics system gives precedence to pro-active safety. Maximum automotive energy, optimum power density and well-balanced torque vectoring, even under severe braking conditions, are all on the bill. Together with three driving modes : the Sport and Sport Plus modes allow the driver to amp up the power delivered by the motors, top speed and responsiveness to the accelerator pedal. While ensuring the same resistance, the car’s carbon materials are 50 % lighter than the equivalent in steel.
Everything about the design points to the top-notch market segment targetted by the Electric Drive. The front skirt is joined by a particularly remarkable carbon splitter. The radiator grill and air vents flaunt the same colour as the bodywork. As does the interior, adorned with overstitching to match the paintwork. In place and stead of a rev counter, a Power counter provides information on power consumption and recuperation, driving programmes and battery charge. Interested by this 100 % electric German car ?
