New Mercedes E-Class Coupé
In this category, German manufacturers are waging an all-out war… Mercedes intends to take the lion’s share by adding a coupé to the E-Class, after similarly enriching the C-Class and S-Class, the first a notch lower, the second a notch higher.
The international economy is forcing so-called premium manufacturers to nurture each different category with the same determination. A requirement met by Mercedes-Benz on an everyday basis. BMW and Audi are clearly targetted by the brand bearing the 3-pointed star. The E-Class Coupé has two distinctive features : fully retractable power windows uninterrupted by frames, and an air vent evoking a jet turbine, resembling that of the S-Class Coupé.
Close to its namesake in the C-Class, from which it is separated by only 14 cm, the E coupé focuses on high-tech. Horizontal tail-lights provide a sweep of light, triggered when the door is opened or closed. Driver assistance comes in the guise of Drive Pilot mode, which maintains a safe distance from the vehicle in front, and non-drift lane holding, even up to 210 km/h.
Top speed : 240 to 250 km/h CO2 emissions : 106 to 189 g/km in mixed cycle

Compared to the sedan, the coupé’s ride height has been lowered by 15 mm. While waiting for even more powerful versions, its engine line-up proposes a 194-hp 4-cylinder Diesel OM654 (E 220 d), 4-cylinder twin-turbo petrol engines with 184 hp (E 200) and 245 hp (E 300) respectively, and the very select 333-hp V6 (E 400) coupled with 4MATIC all-wheel drive.
Mercedes offers an appealing choice of colours including brilliant Diamond White and metallic Mars Red. Bonuses that make all the difference include a microfiber roof-liner and decorative trims in black and brown lacquer.
