Porsche 911 Targa 4S Exclusive
50 years after its first appearance on the road, this model has been redesigned by its German manufacturer, who even recently dared to produce a special limited edition of only 15 cars, presented at the Amsterdam Motor Show.
One day in 1965, the first Targa saw the light of day, in Zuffenhausen, with its safety roll bar and folding removable roof, derived from the 911 Coupé. The brand then entered into a clear commitment : a convertible providing the comfort and safety of a closed car. Half a century and several generations later, the Targa has been reborn. With 400 hp under the hood, it offers a dynamic roof line sloping to the rear and wings with highly pronounced curves. Encircled by round optical units, the bi-xenon headlights remain perfecty classical despite their technical modernity. The exhausts, twin-pipe on this model, clearly belong to the Porsche family. The generous telescopic rear spoiler deploys to reduce lift and improve stability. Fitted with 20” wheels, the car proudly asserts its racy character.
The central console conforms to the basic principles of ergonomics. Logically positioned, the controls allow the roof to be opened and air conditioning to be adjusted individually in two areas. The 4.6” high-definition colour screen shows the parameters of the adaptive cruise control, the all-wheel drive system and navigation information. Leather clads the steering wheel, door handles, arm-rests and certain parts of the seats. Those not attracted by black, platinum grey, Louxor beige or yachting blue can opt for special colours, two-tone combinations or even materials such as carbon, wood or aluminium.
The ultra-inovative roof opens and closes in just 20 seconds when the car is at a stand-still, tucking itself behind the rear benchseat. Two magnesium plates perfectly fit the hood with fabric. The heated rear window is made of laminated glass. Combined with a soundproof covering, it promises an impressive level of noise insulation. The roll bar meets requirements for safety, but also body rigidity. Finally, a few reminders of the original model : aluminium trimmings, air intake vents, and the “Targa” logo.
