Porsche Cayenne GTS
Available from July, this new vehicle is the perfect compromise between an SUV and a sports model. It offers both comfort and power…
Sandwiched between the Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo, the second-generation Cayenne GTS deserves it place in the Porsche range, contrary to what some people seem to think, even going as far as to call it a “stop-gap”. In fact, this model reveals real personality which in itself suffices to justify its existence. It is also the ideal solution for those wanting to drive a Cayenne but who find the S slightly “out dated” and the Turbo somewhat excessive. Based on the Cayenne S engine, that of the GTS is a V8 offering 420 hp. Its eight-speed Tiptronic transmission proposes a Start and Stop function, and one welcomes the addition of Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). While he GTS’s sporty temperament is conveyed by its overall look (rear inherited from the Cayenne Turbo, pronounced side bumpers, quadruple exhaust…) and technical performance (especially in terms of acceleration), it is mainly demonstrated by its improved chassis. More rigid and 24 mm lower than that of the Cayenne S, it flirts more closely with the road, confirming its agility. It’s also worth mentioning that the fuel consumption announced will reassure those who worry, as this exciting car will only use 10.7 litres per 100 km. Inside, the leather and alcantara upholstery and sport front seats with eight different positions are included in the standard equipment which the driver and his passagers will certainly appreciate. For the moment, in its presentation mode, the Cayenne GTS is shown off in Cayman R peridot green or Panamera GTS crimson red, though one can safely bet it will be available in a wider choice of colours. Unveiled to the public at the end of April in a world première at the 2012 Auto China motor show in Peking, the Cayenne GTS is now on sale in France ; a good reason to visit your dealer…
