Porsche Mission E : all-electric concept car
Presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) and the 31st International Automobile Festival in Paris, the Mission E heralds serial production of the manufacturer’s first 4-seater electric sports car by the end of this decade.
Like the 919 Hybrid, the Mission E belongs to the category of innovative and decidedly sporty models. The tone is set with a power output of 600 hp, 4-wheel drive and steering, and a driving range of over 500 km (310 miles). Propelled by two motors, the concept car achieves 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and recharges its battery to 80 % in only 15 minutes. Another technological prowess : the possibility of recharging by means of induction.
In 2013, Porsche won the “Grand Prix for Design” thanks to the 911. The following year, it set its sights on the “Grand Prix for the Finest Supercar” with its 918 Spyder. This year, the Mission E is in the running in the category for “The Finest Concept Car of the Year”. Fans of Porsche will certainly not be disappointed by the sophistication of the car’s equipment and its elegant design. A look that has nothing to envy of the Panamera, less slender by comparison, and here sporting “white stormtrooper” garb.

All alone in the segment of high-end electric vehicles, the Tesla is undoubtedly viewing the arrival of the Mission E in its rear mirror with some concern. Even so, the Californian manufacturer’s Model S, also 100 % electric, offers up to 700 hp and leaps from 0 to 100 km/h in under 3 seconds. The Mission E bears witness to Porsche’s determination to combine performance with ecology, and could make its appearance in dealers’ stores by the end of this decade. 700 million euros are being invested and 1,000 jobs created for its production, slated to be based in Zuffenhausen. No price indication has yet been officially announced.
