Range Rover Evoque, above all else !
“The smallest, lightest and most sober in the brand’s entire history”… This latest offering certainly does not miss a chance to get itself noticed. Perfectly in tune with its time, it can also be extensively personalized.
A really compact model, the Evoque proposes a wide choice of colours and materials, not forgetting high-level technology and interior design bearing the stamp of elegance. As bold as one could wish, it clearly asserts its personality. As demonstrated at motor shows, in Paris and Los Angeles, where it met with resounding success. On the strength of this new model, Range Rover is drawing the interest of an enthusiastic new clientele, not necessarily attracted by the charms of its predecessors.
The interior is fitted out in soft high-quality leather with contrasting stitching. Finishing touches come in three themes : “Pure”, original and modern, “Prestige”, the ultimate in luxury, and “Dynamic”, sleek and sporty. In addition, there are several optional packs and other accessories to provide even more choice for fans of personalization. The figures alone will set their heads spinning : 12 body colours, three shades for the roof, 8 models of wheel-rims, 16 interior “ambiances”, 4 types of inserts, 2 models for wood trims, doorsteps with lighting and a chrome and aluminium finish, a large, fixed panoramic roof with black or chrome roof bars.
The Evoque is a sight for sore eyes which detracts virtually nothing from driving pleasure. Sporty handling, efficient performances and genuine comfort are among its undeniable attributes, even if purists occasionally regret a certain lack of responsiveness. Supple and environment-friendly, the Evoque adapts perfectly to the requirements of driving around town. The intuitive 8-inch touch screen displays simple and precise menus. Finally, dedicated fans of hi-tech will appreciated the “connectivity” pack.
Two versions are available : the coupé and 5-door model. The latter’s slightly raised roof line indicates its vocation as a family SUV. It stands out for its generous modularity with storage space under the floor adding to the capacity offered by the trunk. The wheels positioned squarely at each corner give the model a look of real solidity. The price grid starts at 32,900 ?. Some criticize the large number of options and the bill, rather hefty in the end if one isn’t careful.
The American automobile press has already elected the Evoque “SUV of 2012”. In the competition, the “baby Range” won first place against its rivals, the BMW X3 and Honda CR-V, despite its higher price.
