The amazing Bugatti W16 Mistral
Offering pure power and intense movement, this model draws inspiration from a mighty wind : the “Mistral”, announcing new seasons in the South of France. From a production line of only 99 (or rather 100 if we count the model kept by the manufacturer), the W16 Mistral is a real revolution… Worth 5 million euros.
Its LED tail-lights form a characteristic “X”, and its seductive curves blend harmoniously with Art Deco shapes. While Ettore Bugatti always preferred essentials to the superfluous, he was nevertheless fond of a certain eccentricity.
Belonging to this category, the open-top roadster retains its vibrant black and yellow decor. Unveiled in August, 2022, at the contest for elegance at Pebble Beach in California, the model made its appearance this year. A happy few may well have attempted to obtain handsome capital gain by reselling their orders for acquisition.
A gunblast the brand should prevent, at least in the first year. Though even in the second year, resale of these UFOs could well generate a nice profit margin for their owners, especially as all new models will already have found takers. Proof that the strategy of rarity still makes an impact in the world of luxury.
The absence of a roof does not, however, mean that it rains in the woven leather interior, unless the car leaps forward at over 80 km/h thanks to the magic of its aerodynamics. The W16 four-wheel-drive powertrain with four turbochargers delivers 1600 hp. And the roadster chalks up a top speed of 420 km/h where it is allowed, 380 km/h when limited.
