The GranTurismo, youthfulness restored
75 years after its launch, the Maserati GranTurismo returns as the symbol of an enviable lifestyle. Fast, spacious, comfortable, elegant and innovative, this legendary Italian model is back, more electrifying than ever. Focus on a great 4-seater coupé…
Race-tracks are never far from its designers’ thoughts. Offering the choice of an all-electric powertrain or a V6 Nettuno twin-turbo engine in place and stead of the V8 Atno, it continues to promise spine-tingling thrills. No hybrid, you have to choose. With the combustion engine, 550 hp throb beneath the hood of the Modena version, 650 hp for the Trofeo, which chalks up 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and 0-200 km/h in 11.4 seconds, with a top speed of around 320 km/h. The all-electric model, the first for Maserati, answers to the appropriate name of Folgore (“a bolt of lightning”).
This smart Italian car, sporting a flash of lightning to indicate its specific character, offers 760 hp and requires just 2.9 seconds to attain 0-100 km/h, with an identical top speed. Choosing to respect the environment does not mean that one has to forgo the famous sound effects of the GranTurismo. Rest assured, the manufacturer has thought about its sound footprint, including that of the Folgore, going as far as mixing in a few sounds typical of the V8.
The GT’s design is as flowing and refined as ever. Upfront, a generous hood and familiar grille, sporting the famous trident. New features include vertical headlights, a plunging roof line, and flush door handles. The chassis is 65 % aluminium. Inside, the central console sports two screens of 12.3 and 8.8 inches respectively, accompanied by a head-up display. The price of the GranTurismo Modena starts at 175,000 €. The launch allows us to expect a convertible version within a few months.
