Turnkey luxury
Framed by the Eiffel Tower and the Seine, this fine apartment in an Art Deco building in the 7th arrondissement offers elegance and character orchestrated by one of today’s maestros in interior decor : the talented Gérard Faivre. Tour of an exceptional pied-à-terre, ready to move in !
Imbued with the passion and creativity of Gérard Faivre, apartments and properties signed by this “art home maker” all tell a special tale. The ingredients that compose the signature of this artist in his own right are to be found in this elegant apartment in a 1930’s building. A project about which he says : “The challenge was to evoke certain classic aspects of the era in a contemporary way, by introducing our new codes of comfort and luxury”.
The marble entrance hall and splendid staircase leading to the apartment set the tone. A vast space of 300 m2 then unfurls, redesigned in its entirety, even down to the layout of the rooms. One is immediately immersed in the refined atmosphere of the 1930’s with a hall that opens out to a series of three spacious bright lounges, whose doors and partition walls have been removed to offer a wider perspective from the dining-room to the master bedroom. Each room revisits the style of the period in its own way : rectangular columns in the lounge, a made-to-measure dresser in the dining-room, dark cerusé parquet floors, colourful carpets with geometric patterns paying homage to Eileen Grey and Sonia Delaunay. And most importantly, meticulously chosen furniture, Pierre Chareau light fixtures, Italian design, vintage objects unearthed from antique-dealers... The library/lounge offers an unimpeded view of the Eiffel Tower. Now closer to the dining-room, the kitchen flaunts an ultra-contemporary style, meeting modern demands with its central island made of Madria stone, Corian cabinet and wine cellar. Modernity fully assumed in this interior where one finds the very best of contemporary technology : home automation, alarm, air conditioning, and a sound system allowing members of the family to listen to the music of their choice.
The three bedrooms have been designed as suites with their own bathrooms and walk-in closets, each one respecting the others’ privacy thanks to their strategic positioning. Here and there, some of their walls are clad with a concrete panel with a quilted surface or handmade wall-paper, adding a soft, modern touch. A world apart, the master bedroom of 62 m2 in the rotunda opens out to a bathroom boudoir, where a round bathtub accentuates the grandiose feel. Terrazzo and glass mosaic adorn the ultra-elegant bathrooms, while the walk-in closets with electrified rails opt for originality with doors lined with fabrics. It all offers a masterful lesson in rehabilitation somewhere between classic and contemporary. “I wanted to give a second lease of life to this apartment so that it would continue to exist in harmony with our time while paying tribute to the 1930’s style,” explains Gérard Faivre. “I paid special attention to the choice of furniture and works of art, which pay homage to artists who left their mark on the era, and I made no compromises regarding the modernity of the equipment.”
