The Yves Saint Laurent Museum Paris presents its exhibition entitled "Yves Saint Laurent : Transparences, le pouvoir des matières", the second chapter of a tale begun last summer in the Cité de la Dentelle et de la Mode in Calais. Once it is worn, transparency is rarely 100% : theoretically, it is incompatible with the very purpose of clothing, supposed to cover the body, conceal or protect it. Drawn by this contradiction and the suggestive appeal of transparency, Yves Saint Laurent opted, as from the 1950's, for materials such as muslin, lace and tulle. Rather like a mantra, transparency made regular comebacks in his 40 years of creation, sometimes accompanied by embroidery or opaque fabrics. Boldly confronting opposition, he enabled women to assert their bodies, not without pride or even insolence. Until August 25th. Jusqu’au 25 août. www.museeyslparis.com
"Art Deco" is one of the lines conjured up by the creative soul of Roberto Coin which has scored the greatest success. Beyond its inspiration from the Art Deco movement of the 1920's and 1930's, this collection also evokes “conversation pieces” typical of the 1950's. The new designs are the result of perfect synergy between craftsmanship and technology, as their twisted gold threads now call on 3D for total precision in both symmetry and solidity.
