When you see armchairs and sofas produced by Poltrona Frau, it’s hard to realise that the company started out back in 1912. Who is hiding behind jehs + laub ? Two young designers from Stuttgart, Jürgen Laub and Markus Jehs, the creators of an amazing lounge series for Fritz Hansen. “Our aim was to design an ultra-comfortable seat with very fine padding, and to set it apart from traditional lounge furniture by giving it a look as minimalist as possible.” “Space” is thus characterized by design which is both original and innovative : the seat rests on a plastic shell endowing it with a unique - and multiple - character. “It changes in keeping with the setting and can thus be used in many different contexts.” To be completed by a lounge table and its glass top with black or silvered lacquer underneath and varnished steel legs to match the chairs.

At first glance, nothing distinguishes this sundeck from any other. Apparently, for it has in fact been installed with the help of the “Softline” system, also used for parquet flooring in the garden. Quite revolutionary, it needs no visible screws. So there’s no danger that they will stick out or become rusty over time. For the wood, preference goes to teak or “padouk” which never rot and ensure a high degree of stability. If necessary, one can easily remove a strip without cutting it and replace it just as easily. The good life ! Giorda Parquets, 1727 chemin Saint-Bernard, Vallauris (04 93 64 97 29).
Founded 25 years ago, Arketipo has played its part in enriching the saga of Italian design. It introduces innovative ideas in the field of taste, forms and technology. Cult items in its various collections flaunt names like “Accademia”, “Triclinium”, “Easy”, “XL”… The most striking thing is the company’s original concept in the art of designing sofas. A concept drawn directly from day-to-day living and inspired by our new ways of life : henceforth, the divan is no longer an isolated item of seating nor a temple to relaxation, but instead a real little island where one shares moments of restfulness and conviviality. The two models shown above, “Loft” and “Must”, thus give priority to modular configurations and especially backs which can be raised or lowered to suit your requirements.
