Inheriting a family passion in a search for rarity and the exceptional, the new Wittmann Antiquités gallery dedicated to “objets d’art”, furnishings and sculpture from the Age of Antiquity to the early 20th century has just opened on the Left Bank in Paris. Steeped since childhood in this special artistic universe, Charles and Marie represent the third generation of antique-dealers. Their most recent acquisitions include a pair of monumental incense burners made of steel inlaid with gold, created in the 19th century by Spanish artist Plàcio Zuloaga, and a large regal table in sculpted and gilded wood bearing the brandmark of Marie¬-Antoinette’s royal furniture depository, dated 1770.
