Born in Biarritz, Daniel Iribarren has always been deeply attached to this elegant seaside resort with a very rich past. In 2004, he founded the agency BTZ Immobilier that he runs in association with that of Bliss & Foch. Guided by his love of old stone and a passion for architecture, he has offered a discerning selection of houses and apartments here for the past 15 years.


“In my portfolio, 90% of the properties on offer are located in Biarritz,” says Daniel Iribarren. “Why ? Because we only work well with things we know well !” Having grown up in Biarritz, the resort no longer holds any secrets for him. Among its many attributes, he points to the richness of its architecture : “In Biarritz, you find a wide variety of properties. It is a city that easily meets all requirements. There are elegant old buildings, Napoleon III style in very high-end properties around the Palais. Classic homes encompassing constructions dating from the 1930’s to the 1960’s. And finally, contemporary residences in the parks of old villas, benefiting from high-quality environments. Today, 50% of my clientele is comprised of buyers of year-round homes, mostly French retirees, while the other 50% looking for holiday residences are French buyers living in France or abroad. Over the past few years, it’s worth noting a growing number of young company directors and senior executives from Paris and London, who share their time between the two capitals and Biarritz”. On the subject of the property market here, Daniel Iribarren emphasizes : “It is a very tight market, with more buyers than sellers. We clearly suffer from a lack of available properties. We are seeing a slight rise in prices following marked acceleration over the past six months. Taxation applied to non-residents through the Law of Finance 2019 is now more advantageous, bringing back our non-resident clients who are again taking up their positions on the market for sales. Biarritz is seeing growing interest on the part of buyers drawn by its lifestyle and exceptional environment. Just recently, I sold a lovely 1-bedroom apartment with a terrace in a high-end residence in the centre of Biarritz, priced at 315,000 €, in just seven days.”
