Communes west of Lyon as seen by AK.SO Conseils
Attractive for their village atmospheres and the “fine art of living” they propose, communes west of Lyon are of increasing interest to local buyers, but also new arrivals in the “Métropole lyonnaise”, from both France and abroad. A forward-looking market which also posts more modest prices than those applicable in Lyon intra-muros. Interview with Jean-Christophe Paillet, consultant and associate director of AK.SO Conseils, who confirms the current momentum.
Encompassing popular areas such as Sainte Foy les Lyon, Francheville, Tassin, Écully and Charbonnières, the west side of Lyon has benefited from growing enthusiasm over the past months among buyers drawn by the quality living conditions offered by these privileged communes : “It is a trend that is on the rise, especially as in prized arrondissements in Lyon, the 2nd, 3rd and 6th, prices saw a sharp rise in 2017,” explains Jean-Christophe Paillet. “Clients are also turning their attention to these areas for the quality of their living accommodation, consisting of lovely houses, luxury properties and apartments ranging from 600,000 to 1.5 million euros. In this category, we are currently offering a good number of properties with remarkable appointments. The dynamism of these communes is also being confirmed by the project to extend the metro and improvements in road infrastructures, allowing people to reach the centre of Lyon more easily.” With regard to the property market in Lyon West, Jean-Christophe Paillet adds: “It is a market witnessing a real boom, where we have, in fact, just opened a new agency in Écully to be right on the front line and always closer to the local clientele. Lyon in its entirety is an increasingly attractive city, ranked among the five most pleasant towns to live in in France. It is also seeing very impressive momentum due to the presence of a good number of successful companies whose executives benefit from high purchasing power”.
