Emile Garcin, family portrait

Rather like a novel by Alphonse Daudet, the saga begins in Provence, with the opening of a small agency in Saint-Rémy, and extends over two generations : Emile, the father, and the children Nathalie, Emmanuel and Antoine, see themselves as antique-dealers in real estate.

The tale begins in the Alpilles and the Luberon. A self-taught aesthete, Emile Garcin is above all a humanist. He found nourishment in everyday encounters, was a good listener, and understood people almost intuitively. In those days, trust prevailed and sales agreements were signed on the corner of a table. Emile Garcin passed on his highly personal vision of real estate to his children in the 1980’s. “Very quickly,” tells Emmanuel, “the young generation saw the potential and began to develop the group, looking for rare gems, properties of character, built of stone with a patina induced by passing time, in their region of predilection, but also in Paris, on the Côte d’Azur, the Basque coast, Le Bordelais and Brittany. Addresses in France with strong identities, heralding openings in Switzerland and Belgium”. A team comprised of 150 members is now dedicated to the Garcin destiny. Emile remains Honorary Chairman of the family group, while the siblings share its strategic strongholds : Nathalie in Paris, Emmanuel in Provence, Antoine on the Côte d’Azur. Not forgetting collaborators, thanks to whom the adventure looks forward to more wonderful years. “Appreciation begins when you are no longer hungry,” says Emmanuel, quoting Alphonse Daudet and indicating that it is through enjoyment that a profession is best exercised. The door is in fact still open, for both clients and collaborators. With each inauguration, an in-house promotion, a reciprocal bond of trust, comes into being. The Covid-19 crisis has restored the appeal of a family home, whether nestling in the countryside or on the seafront. Everyone has stepped back from their desire to go international, instead dreaming of spaciousness, privacy, outdoor areas, a reassuring place in which to be reunited. Especially as the obligatory explosion of tele-working has changed mentalities. There is a big comeback on the part of rural localities and a search for a quality life-style. A trend already observed in 2019. A typical Aixois “bastide”, a Haussmann apartment extended by a terrace, a manor house... Henceforth, it is all a question of taste, as if distances had melted into thin air.
