“Buyers are now clearly reluctant to take out a mortgage. From April to August this year, usually a very active period, the segment of properties ranging from 600,000 to 1 million euros came to a halt due to the lack of lending by banks. Since September, we have seen a slight upturn and a resumption in sales of properties in need of renovation, a sector which has also really suffered until now. Otherwise, even though there is a lot of talk about price declines in the region, it is so far not the case. This year, the toughest bargaining through our agency for a property attained 7.5 %, and on average we are rather seeing 0 to 5%.<.strong> Sellers of prestige properties still prefer to take them off the market rather than lower their prices. In parallel, we have noticed the return of a foreign clientele with high purchasing power, English and German in particular, looking for high-end properties worth over 1 million euros.”

And the future ? “I remain optimistic, confidence is gradually being restored, and I think the market will get back on its feet.”
