The growing appeal of Terrasses et Jardins
On the strength of hyper-specialisation, Terrasses et Jardins agencies, which only offer properties with terraces, private courtyards or gardens, are attracting urban buyers and confirming their appeal since the Covid-19 crisis and confinement, which led to a desire for outdoor areas among Parisians. Interview with Benoît Vitu, founder of this concept which makes for a happier lifestyle.
With over two decades of transactions on the Parisian market, the Terrasses et Jardins concept is one of the most successful in the real estate sector. As for many other agencies, the confinement period brought an abrupt end to activity though, since May 11th, enquiries have been flowing in and marking a recovery. As explained by Benoît Vitu : “We in fact saw an explosion in enquiries with deconfinement, after two months of inactivity. But not all Parisians are going to move to the country or the provinces : they may dream of doing so, but will not necessarily take the plunge. On the other hand, needs and desires to benefit from a private outdoor area were accentuated during the Covid-19 crisis and the “trauma” of confinement. Our selection of properties meets these strong desires to live in an apartment with a terrace and/or garden. Since re-opening, we have in fact completed some great sales, including that of a magnificent split-level apartment on Boulevard Raspail, priced at over 2.8 M €”. As for the future and the evolution of the Parisian market, Benoît Vitu remains cautious : “We are faced by an uncertain situation in which it is very hard at the moment to make any forecasts. We are worried by negative information and the possibility of an economic crisis, though I remain positive by focusing on encouraging data. The market has struggled but is now active again. Furthermore, we have strengthened our teams by taking on new agents. We have also boosted our presence on social networks, demonstrated our creativity, and strengthened communication between our teams even further. All of which seems to have borne fruit”.
