Courchevel, an avalanche of novelties

This season, the gem of Les Trois-Vallées its celebrating its 70th anniversary. Renowned worldwide, the luxury ski resort has this year prepared an incredibly rich array of pre- and after-ski experiences, together with inaugurations of leading addresses.

Built from June 1946 onwards on the pastures of the valley of La Tarentaise to boost the region’s economy at the end of the war, Courchevel now stands at the heart of a fabulous skiing domain. It plays host to about 15 luxury hotels, star-rated restaurants, designer boutiques, cutting-edge concept stores, Europe’s largest aquatic centre in the mountains (Aquamotion), and clubs designed to welcome the international jet-set. Courchevel also stands out for modern cultural activities, such as its “Art au Sommet” festival. For its 8th edition, the Bartoux galleries are presenting works by international graffiti and urban street artists in a wonderful open-air exhibition at an altitude of over 2000 m. For the third year running, Richard Orlinski’s monumental sculptures of animals have also been installed on the slopes. For its 70th anniversary, the resort has dreamt up a wealth of entertainment, visits and exhibitions, while sumptuous new hotels and spas are opening their doors this winter, adding an extra sheen to the aura of this legendary address.
