Royal ports-of-call in Marrakech
Basking in the sun at the foot of the Atlas mountains, Marrakech offers discreet, refined “riads” in its Medina, and gigantic, fairytale palaces at the gateway to the desert.
Any mention of the “Red City” instantly conjures up the Moroccan art of living. A 3-hour flight from Nice or Paris, it is the closest destination providing such escapism. In the pure mountain air, encircled by its high walls, Marrakech is comprised of vast lively squares, including the famous Jamaa El Fna, lush gardens, a modern town centre, an enchanting palm-grove, and the legendary Medina with its “souk” and narrow streets. An address long favoured by the international jet-set, it hums with activity : luxury hotels are inaugurated each year, more and more “riads” are opening their doors, together with ultra-trendy bars and clubs.
