Trendy restaurants in Cannes

There’s no lack of trendy and friendly addresses in the Festival City !

From one end of the Croisette to the other, and in several little side-streets, there’s no lack of trendy addresses in Cannes.

Opt for trendy dining at “L’Atelier”, for example, the restaurant at the Palm Beach Casino, a high temple for night-owls. If you remember, not so long back it was known as the “Mogambo” and had a disco. Now re-done, this lounge-music-bar-restaurant proposes two distinct menus : the first Lebanese, with 12 specialities, the second dreamt up by chef Jean-Luc Ferrato (try the oven-baked Mediterranean sea-bass with savory). The decor is a cheerful mix of contemporary Byzantine Greco Romano Orientalo influences ! In fine weather, the bonus is the immense 1,000 m2 terrace above the sea. Still at the edge of the Med (on Port Canto), “Le Baoli” invites guests on an exotic voyage. Its early success is now confirmed and one simply has to step inside the monumental entrance to enter another world. The illusion is perfect, the cuisine too. A clever blend of Asian trends and world cuisine all, of course, accompanied by music. At the other end of the legendary Croisette you’ll find the “Palm Square”. Its colonial spirit is expressed in big armchairs, paintings and African sculptures, as well as the music (tropical, naturally). It then continues on the tables, with delicious southern dishes such as aubergine caviar with spices, oven-baked monkfish and minced scorpion fish with frothy garlic butter sauce.

Stylish, minimalist decor for a culinary experience in top gear. The Tantra is highly appreciated for its sushi and sashimi… and its elegant atmosphere.

Just celebrating its first anniversary, “Sushikan” welcomes fans of sushi and all those for whom dining means a congenial atmosphere. Here, the chef prepares the food live, theatrical staging is a bonus for its presentation and guests easily strike up conversations among themselves, in all different languages and without any overtures. A concept which has already proven its salt ! Less recent, but just as popular, is the “Tantra” whose fame derives from inimitable Japanese beef, a good choice of sushi and sashimi, and of course the chocolate nems. Dishes proposed by “Cinquante Caffe” and “O’Caffe” are less way-out but just as sophisticated. Addresses that are a must, especially at the end of the week for post-teenagers and 30-40 year-olds. World cuisine for the first and grilled dishes for the second. For example, and respectively : monkfish with pink pepper and fresh grilled fish. As a general rule, it all begins over drinks (at the “Café Cinquante”) and ends, on weekends, with a DJ (“O’Caffe”). Moral of the tale : trendy means liberated but not letting it all hang out. A trendy dinner doesn’t mean “music with bad food” but sampling tempting dishes with music in the background. And trendy dining in Cannes is neither superficial nor snobbish. Just a state of mind.
