Pastoral is a word defined in literature as an idealized perfect country life where everything is, ahem, well perfect. While actually a fictional idea that should theoretically only exist in the pages of a novel, ‘La Vie Pastoral' is an exception. The only way one can explain this house is that a wizard with an over-developed sense of tranquility and beauty waved his wand and this property appeared magically from the idyllic bosoms of mother earth. I know it is a far-fetched explanation but this finca truly exudes a verdant perfection that is palpable the second the automatic gates open and you drive onto the grounds. The first thing you notice are the manicured lawns where the two grass munchers aka the lawn-mower robots happily chomping away and ensuring every blade of grass is 3. 8cms high. Two cypress trees form a portal that beckons you towards the house. There is a light filled conservatory with automatic blinds that give you panoramic views of the gardens and the blue of the pool which is located in a magnificent terrace of 200 m2 of ulldecona stone; there are grand old palm trees that give shade so you can have that coffee and croissant at pool side while you contemplate the intricacies of your navel. Stepping into the house proper, there is that airy, open plan conservatory and then an open plan lounge area with American kitchen and a cute pantry that leads out onto a breakfast area. In the living area, you have air-con, a high-energy and elegantly modern wood stove plus central heating for the colder days of January. There is also an alcove with a study area featuring an antique writing desk. Moving under the archway, you find the main, groundfloor bedroom, a large bathroom and then a huge 18m2 storage area that could be become another bedroom or games room or perhaps even just continue as a storage room. There is in fact another bedroom tucked into the other end of the open plan living area which makes two, ground floor bedrooms. The master bedroom is located on the second floor via a gentle ascent, and this is a spacious bedroom with a very large bathroom ensuite, built-in wardrobe and a wonderful terrace with an inbuilt sun-lounge, automatic sun canopy and exceptional views of the coast. It is a room made by the wizard, a magic place to wake up in the morning and look out on the new day and all the promise it may hold.
The grounds and the gardens are magnificent and one very useful concept is the almacen/garage of 44m2 that provides parking for two vehicles and a separate storage area. This could of course be converted into a guest chalet with two bedrooms and an ensuite bathroom with a little kitchenette if that was an idea that appealed. There is also a fully fenced vegetable garden patch with a watering system and a chicken coup. It should be mentioned that because the property is rural, permission to build extra storage sheds etc are not available. However shaded pergolas for parking or movable garden sheds can be located on the property with no issue. Water is provided via a communal well and electricity comes directly from mains electricity.
To conclude, this a unique, once off country house on its own 3000m2 grounds with views of the Catalan coastline and just 2 kms from L'Ampolla. And those views, well even the wizard could not concoct such amazing vistas of the blue Mediterranean.
It's definitely worth a visit and a gaze if you are looking for something special.
