There is a story behind this property. Señor Conde Asalto, the tutor of a young man called Joan Ventosa Juliachs, was so impressed by the architectural genius of his pupil that he proposed to the young man that they form a construction company. These two enterprising gentlemen began to construct magnificent properties in the municipality of Banyeres de Penedes. It was here, among the gentle undulation of the vineyards, they built houses in the French Provencal style, combining natural materials such as wood and stone to create spacious interiors with a warm and inviting ambience. Such was the success of their endeavors, they eventually constructed an entire suburban neighborhood called Els Boscos. And here is where we find El Torre Del Boscos, a sumptuous property just an hour from Barcelona that reflects the passion of its creators, 314 meters of lavish Provencal architecture.
So, to the details of the house. The drawing room has a wooden beamed ceiling, 70m2 of internal space with multiple French windows that open onto the gardens; there is an imposing 2.6 mt tall sliding glass door that separates the drawing room from the reception and dining area. Again, in true Provencal style, there is wood paneling and French doors that give access to an outside courtyard. The generous 30m2 kitchen is just off the dining area with access to a covered barbecue area with a delightful arched surround where the internal space of the house communicates with the gardens. This is the key to the Provencal style, the fusion of rustic and more formal elements. There is a second drawing room in the west wing, a living area of 30m2 that provides a calm that seems to hang in the air. The ground floor provides great permeability with the many, elegant French doors inviting you outside. There is a master bedroom downstairs with a 12m2 ensuite bathroom. The second bedroom is smaller with access to its own bathroom. There is a WC for general use. Despite its grand dimensions, the house maintains an intimacy and a sense of homeliness. Perhaps this is down to its practical lay-out. The main drawing room lies at one extremity of the house, while at the other end on the west wing is the second drawing room and in between we have the entrance foyer, dining area and kitchen. The L-shape creates a symmetry and intimacy, the arched courtyard in between uniting the house both internally and externally.
There are 3,435m2 of manicured lawns, trees, raised beds and shrubs, a veritable oasis of greenery with a 13mt by 6mt pool in the middle. There are various outhouses and storage sheds dotted through-out. And here is something of interest. There is a legal segregation on the plot which means one can build two other properties, a development opportunity waiting to be exploited.
So who is this property for? One answer might be anyone with good taste and a healthy bank balance. However, this property once was an event-centre that hosted weddings and conferences, provided accommodation and catering. Called Ca La Nona, it had quite some success. So Ca La Nona also offers a ready-made event-centre and accommodation with a full tourist license and with the option of building a smaller house beside this Provencal mansion.
